Plasma Derived Medicinal Products (PDMPs)

PDMPs are Plasma-derived medicinal products, made by industry out of donated plasma.

Plasma derived medicinal products (PDMPs) are prepared industrially from human plasma by pharmaceutical companies and are life-saving therapeutics for large communities of patients.

PDMPs are used in very different circumstances:

  • For people with primary immunodeficiencies (immunoglobulin)
  • For patients suffering from haemophilia  and other bleeding disorders
  • For patients with antitrypsin deficiency
  • For people diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating neuropathy (CIDP) and multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN)
  • To stop a crisis in hereditary angioedema
  • In end stage liver failure (cirrhosis)
  • In shock, trauma and burn emergencies,
    among other uses.
